What is Kratom?
Kratom originates from a tree-like plant - Mitragyna Speciosa, which grows in the regions of southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia. Natives living in the region have been using and preparing kratom for centuries. Not only does kratom have a historical relevance but also comes in various forms and types, making it diverse and versatile.
Is Kratom Legal?
Kratom is currently on the list of controlled substances in a few countries around the world but currently legal federally in the United States. Since most of the effects of kratom are still unknown to many, scientists and researchers are conducting more studies on the natural substance. The DEA wanted to make kratom illegal entirely back in 2016, but advocates and scientists opposed the idea and it was overturned. This was the first time in history a proposed federal ban had been overturned.
